Missouri Leadership Academy Graduates Focus on Efficiency Priorities for State Government

JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Yesterday, the State of Missouri celebrated the graduation of Classes 16 and 17 from the Missouri Leadership Academy, a program that brings together emerging leaders from executive departments and elected offices to strengthen their leadership skills and deepen their commitment to public service.

The graduation capped a rigorous, months-long curriculum focused on service excellence, leadership development and citizen-centered process improvement. A key component of this year’s program was the development of capstone projects that align with Governor Kehoe’s MO GREAT (Missouri Government Responsibility, Efficiency, Accountability, Transformation) priorities for state government. Government efficiency and innovation, constituent services, fiscal stewardship and resource optimization were key focus areas of these capstone projects.

“Representing the Office of Administration in the Missouri Leadership Academy Class 16 has been a valuable opportunity to learn, grow and collaborate with talented professionals from departments across the state,” said Office of Administration Assistant Director of Purchasing Amy Raymo. “The leadership skills I developed and the diverse perspectives I gained will help me be a stronger leader and shape how I approach challenges. It was a great experience.”

Participants applied what they learned as they examined Missouri services and worked in cross‑departmental teams to identify improvements, reduce barriers and recommend solutions. The classes presented their final projects and executive summaries yesterday morning, ahead of the graduation ceremony held in the Capitol Rotunda. “This investment in the next generation of future leaders is critical,” said Office of Administration Commissioner Kurt Schaefer. “In addition to expanding their skills, the Missouri Leadership Academy participants networked across state agency lines. The relationships formed will help them continue to find efficiencies in service delivery and make the State of Missouri even stronger and more responsive to the needs of Missourians.”
